Hand Turkeys for Mashed Potatoes (2025)

Hand Turkeys for Mashed Potatoes (2025)

For Thanksgiving this year, we partnered with Zane's Boy Scout troop to make hand turkeys for our 8th annual "Hand Turkeys for Mashed Potatoes" fundraiser. Picture Helping People donated the supplies, Caragh led the session, and it helped fulfill their service project while giving us a lot of hand turkeys!

Another thing that happened in 2025 was that we had the opportunity to partner with Hulen Street Church in Fort Worth. They allowed Pictures Helping People to have a table in the church lobby on Sunday. The church members were VERY generous with their purchases and donations, and it was our single largest fundraiser to date!

Because of everyone's generosity, both at the in-person fundraiser and through online sales, we raised over $1,500 to donate Thanksgiving food to Mission Arlington in 2025. Which was good, because when we called to ask what they needed most, they said "everything". It sounds like it was a pretty hard year for a lot of people. It actually took us two separate shopping trips at two different stores to be able to get everything that we donated.

Mrs. Tillie was excited to see us (we're always excited to see her) and said, "I was waiting on you guys, and you came at just the right time!" Every year since we've been donating to Mission Arlington, Tillie personally comes to pray over the donation and help unload. She's amazing! And the volunteers were very grateful.

There were a handful of hand turkeys left after the fundraiser, so my brother and another Boy Scout from his troop took them to donate at a local retirement home. The residents appreciated the art and the time spent with the boys.
