"Brushstrokes for an Angel" LLS Fundraiser (2025)

"Brushstrokes for an Angel" LLS Fundraiser (2025)

When Zane was in first grade, one of his schoolmates passed away at 8 years old from leukemia. As traumatic as it was for the family, Zane had a genuinely difficult time processing that a kid could pass away.

The family had a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses, and Zane wanted to do a fundraiser to help. He and Caragh researched her name, Ava, which meant songbird, and began making bird art for their fundraiser "Brushstrokes for an Angel."

Fortunately for the family, there was considerable public support. By the time the kids were done making their art, the GoFundMe had been overfunded, and the family had turned off donations.

Not one to be discouraged, Zane asked how else we could use the money in her memory. We asked around and heard a lot of very good things about the team at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
After a few weeks of selling pictures, Zane took a deep breath and hit the "donate" button for $212 in memory of his classmate.
